Starting December 1, Turkish Airlines passengers will be able to track their luggage in real time using Samsung’s SmartThings Find technology. It’s the first airline in the world to launch this system, which relies on Galaxy SmartTag devices.

A new way to keep track of luggage

Through a partnership with Samsung, Turkish Airlines now allows travelers to label their bags with smart tags. The Smart Tagged Baggage Service lets users locate their luggage via the SmartThings Find app — even in case of delays or lost items.

Passengers can also upload a photo of their suitcase to make identification easier. The airline plans to expand SmartThings technology to other digital passenger services in the future.

A first for the aviation industry

Turkish Airlines is the first carrier to adopt SmartThings technology for global baggage tracking. The company’s Chief Information Officer, Kerem Kızıltunç, said the airline aims to set new standards in aviation through digital innovation and passenger comfort.

Samsung’s Jaeyeon Jung noted that this collaboration is part of a broader effort to extend SmartThings Find across industries, enhancing safety and convenience for users everywhere.

What it means for travelers from Poland

The new service also benefits Polish travelers flying with Turkish Airlines from Warsaw or Kraków. The ability to monitor luggage in real time can make long-haul journeys smoother and more secure.

Turkish Airlines – a global leader in digital innovation

Founded in 1933, Turkish Airlines now operates 512 aircraft serving 355 destinations across 131 countries. A member of the Star Alliance network, the airline continues to invest in digital technologies to improve the travel experience.
