Lufthansa Group resumes flights from Rzeszow to Munich
Lufthansa restores the route between the Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport and the airport of Franz Josef Strauss in Munich. The connection has been suspended since June 2020 as a result of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The first flight after the break will take place on April 23rd, 2023.
The airport in Jasionka, the farthest south-eastern passenger airport in Poland, plays a significant role in developing the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The Bavarian transfer hub allows passengers from Poland to continue their journey around Germany or choose further European or intercontinental connections, e.g. to North America and Asia.
Five-star rated airport
Munich airport is one of the main hubs in Germany and the only five-star rated by Skytrax airport in Europe. It is considered the best airport in Central Europe and among the world's top ten best airports. Munich airport has two terminals, of which only Lufthansa Group passengers can travel from Terminal 2.
What distinguishes Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport?
The airport in Jasionka is considered one of the best in Poland. It is conveniently located and can handle flights even during bad weather conditions. Jasionka airport stands out in the largest number of "flying days" among airports in Poland. It also has the second longest runway in Poland (the longest is at the Chopin airport in Warsaw). In 2016, the modern G2A Arena conference center was built opposite the airport terminal.
In 2022, Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport received the title of Small Airport of the Year 2022, awarded by the international industry organization CAPA - Center for Aviation. CAPA appreciated the airport's role in activities supporting Ukraine and the significant progress that the airport has achieved in developing the network of passenger connections. In the summer season, the airport in Jasionka served 23 routes to 12 countries, which resulted in a new record of passengers served in the third quarter of 2022.
What are the Podkarpackie economic zones?
Podkarpacie is also attractive in terms of business opportunities. The airport expansion influenced the development of entrepreneurship and lured large companies' interest. In 2006, the Podkarpackie Science and Technology Park Aeropolis (part of the Euro Park Mielec Special Economic Zone) was established in the province. Special economic zones provide entrepreneurs with preferential development conditions, e.g. tax reliefs and facilitations for investors, and jobs for the local community.
