More flights to the Mediterranean with Austrian Airlines in summer 2026

Austrian Airlines increases flight offer to the Mediterranean for summer 2026
Austrian Airlines has announced a significant expansion of its summer route network for the 2026 season. The carrier is responding to growing demand for holiday travel by increasing the number of flights on the most popular routes in the Mediterranean region. A total of 490 additional flights have already been added to the booking system, covering countries such as Greece, Spain, and Italy.
More connections to Greece
The largest increase in operations will be seen in Greece, where passengers will be able to choose from as many as 21 destinations. These include major cities such as Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as popular holiday islands like Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, and Zakynthos. The network also features less obvious destinations, such as Karpathos, Samos, and Limnos.
Spain remains a top destination
Spain continues to hold a strong position in the airline’s offering, with 11 destinations available. These include major cities such as Barcelona, Valencia, and Málaga, as well as popular leisure regions like Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, and Mallorca.
Extensive offer in Italy
For summer 2026, Austrian Airlines has also prepared an extensive network of connections to Italy, with a total of 12 routes. These include major urban centers such as Rome, Milan, and Venice, as well as popular tourist regions like Sicily (Catania, Palermo) and Sardinia (Cagliari, Olbia).
Responding to growing demand
The expansion is a response to the steadily increasing demand for holiday travel among passengers from Central Europe. The airline emphasizes that the additional flights will provide greater flexibility in planning vacations and improved availability of the most sought-after destinations.
The summer 2026 schedule is therefore set to be one of the most extensive in the airline’s history, particularly for travelers seeking sunny destinations in the Mediterranean.
