Lufthansa’s Anniversary Fleet – 100 Years of History in a New Look

One Hundred Years of Lufthansa – a Special Milestone in the Airline’s History

The year 2026 will mark a truly special moment for Lufthansa – exactly one hundred years earlier, in 1926, the first airline operating under this name was founded. To celebrate this round anniversary, the German carrier has prepared a unique project in the form of a special anniversary fleet, designed to symbolize both the brand’s long-standing heritage and its modern vision for the future of aviation.

Anniversary Livery – Where Tradition Meets Modernity

Selected aircraft from key segments of the fleet will be painted in a unique color scheme created especially for the 100th anniversary. The dominant feature will be a dark blue fuselage adorned with a large white crane – Lufthansa’s iconic emblem – whose silhouette seamlessly blends into the aircraft’s wings. A prominently displayed “100” will appear on the left side of the fuselage, while the right side will feature the inscription “1926 / 2026.” The anniversary symbol will also be visible on the underside of the aircraft, giving the entire design a cohesive and striking appearance.

Boeing 787-9 “Berlin” Leading the Anniversary Fleet

At the forefront of the anniversary fleet will be the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner named “Berlin,” carrying the registration D-ABPU. The aircraft is expected to arrive in Frankfurt in December and will be the first to showcase the anniversary livery. In addition, other flagship Lufthansa aircraft will also receive the special color scheme, including the Airbus A380, Airbus A350-1000, Airbus A350-900, Airbus A320, and the legendary Boeing 747-8.

Gradual Rollout of the Project Through 2026

The introduction of the anniversary design will take place in stages. Additional aircraft will gradually join the fleet wearing the new livery, with the entire project scheduled for completion in autumn 2026. For passengers and aviation enthusiasts alike, the anniversary fleet will become not only a visual highlight, but also a reminder of one hundred years of growth, innovation, and Lufthansa’s presence on the global aviation market.
