ANA Introduces New Seats in Premium Economy and Economy Class

ANA: Greater Comfort in Premium Economy and Economy Class
All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest airline and a 12-time consecutive recipient of the Skytrax 5-Star rating, has announced the introduction of brand-new seats in Premium Economy and Economy Class on long-haul international flights. In collaboration with the German company RECARO Aircraft Seating, one of the world’s leading aircraft seat manufacturers, ANA once again raises the bar for in-flight comfort and functionality.
The new seats will be gradually introduced on Boeing 787-9 aircraft starting in fiscal year 2026. Designed with the latest advancements in ergonomics, technology, and design, they aim to provide passengers with even greater comfort, functionality, and personal space.
Top-Tier Comfort
The new seat models offer optimized seat pitch and recline, as well as large, high-quality touch-screen monitors with Bluetooth audio support. In addition, they feature USB Type-C ports and ample storage for personal items. Every detail has been designed with long-haul travel in mind, allowing passengers to enjoy comfort and relaxation even on the longest flights.
“ANA continually enhances the passenger experience, and these new seats represent another step in our investment toward greater comfort and convenience on international flights,” said Tomoji Ishii, Executive Vice President of Customer Experience Management at ANA. “We will continue to seek and implement innovative solutions that improve every aspect of the journey with ANA.”
New Premium Economy Seats
The new Premium Economy seat has been designed for maximum comfort and functionality:
Seat pitch has been increased by 2 inches (approx. 5 cm) to 40 inches (approx. 101 cm), making it one of the highest standards in its class,
Seat recline has been extended by an additional 2 inches, for a total of 9 inches (approx. 23 cm),
An improved seat and backrest design enhances ergonomics and supports proper posture even during long flights.
New Economy Class Seats
The Economy Class has also received significant upgrades:
Seat pitch now measures 33–34 inches (approx. 84–86 cm), with an additional 1 inch (2.5 cm) of legroom,
The seat reclines 2 inches more than the previous model—providing 1.5 times the previous recline range,
New lightweight touch-screen monitors have been installed to reduce seat weight and improve fuel efficiency.
This represents one of the highest seat pitch and recline standards in Economy Class worldwide—designed to make long-haul travel with ANA even more enjoyable.
