Pendolino returns to Zakopane. Fast journey from Warsaw starts in October

From October 18, the first regular Pendolino connection from Warsaw to Zakopane will begin, cutting travel time to under 4.5 hours. In December, a train from Gdynia will also reach the mountain resort, with the trip from northern Poland taking around 7.5 hours.
New route from Warsaw
The first train will depart Warsaw East station at 7:29 a.m., stopping in Kraków and Nowy Targ, and will arrive in Zakopane at 12:14 p.m. The return trip to Warsaw will take less than five hours, offering an attractive alternative to the congested Zakopianka road.
PKP Intercity announced a special promotion – tickets in second class on the Warsaw–Zakopane route will initially cost just 1 złoty.
Faster travel on shorter routes
The new service will also shorten trips on other segments. The journey from Warsaw to Nowy Targ will take 4 hours and 17 minutes, while Kraków to Zakopane will be under two hours.
Connection from Gdynia in December
In December, another fast connection will be launched, linking Gdynia with Zakopane. The journey across Poland will take about 7.5 hours – the first time such a quick trip from the Baltic coast to the Tatra Mountains will be possible.
Not the first time in Zakopane
Pendolino trains were tested in Zakopane back in 2017, but at the time they carried no passengers and were only checking track conditions. This time, the trains return as a permanent, regular service for both tourists and residents.
