August sets record as the best month in Katowice Airport history

Katowice Airport in Pyrzowice handled 978,900 passengers in August 2025 – the highest monthly result in the airport’s history. The figure surpassed the previous record set in July, when 959,200 travelers used the airport.
What drove the growth?
Compared with August 2024, traffic rose by 112,400 passengers, or 13 percent. Charter flights organized by travel agencies accounted for the majority – 604,200 passengers, up by 66,700 from the year before. Scheduled connections operated by Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti carried 372,200 travelers, marking a 14.2 percent increase.

The airport recorded 6,592 take-offs and landings in August, 797 more than a year earlier, a rise of 13.7 percent. That translates into more than 210 operations per day on average.
Record-breaking summer
In July and August combined, Katowice Airport handled nearly 1.94 million passengers. Over 1.2 million of them were charter travelers heading on holiday. Artur Tomasik, head of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group, which manages the airport, noted that September is also expected to be strong, with around 880,000 passengers forecast.
Eight months of steady growth
From January to the end of August 2025, the airport served 4.95 million passengers – 619,600 more than in the same period in 2024, an increase of 14.3 percent. In that time, 36,300 aircraft movements were recorded, over 3,500 more than the year before.
