Vietnam Opens Its Borders to Polish Tourists – Visa-Free Travel from August

Starting on August 15, 2025, Polish citizens will be able to enter Vietnam without the need to apply for a visa. The country’s ambassador to Poland, Ha Hoang Hai, confirmed that the new regulations will apply to all individual travelers and remain in force for three years, until August 14, 2028.

Until now, visa exemptions were limited. Since March 1, 2025, Polish tourists could travel to Vietnam without a visa only when booking trips through approved Vietnamese tour operators, with a maximum stay of 45 days. The upcoming change extends this privilege to all Polish travelers, regardless of whether they are traveling independently or as part of an organized group.

The decision stems from a resolution adopted on January 15, 2025, under which citizens of Poland, as well as the Czech Republic and Switzerland, were included in the visa exemption scheme. Previously, Vietnam had already waived visa requirements for travelers from 13 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Japan, and South Korea. These measures are part of a broader strategy aimed at making Vietnam more accessible and attracting a larger number of international visitors.

According to the new rules, Polish citizens may stay in Vietnam for up to 45 days without fulfilling any additional requirements, provided they hold a passport valid for at least six months. Business-related travel, however, will still require a visa or an e-visa.

In recent months, both sides have intensified talks about expanding cooperation in the tourism sector. In May, a Vietnamese delegation met with representatives of the Polish Chamber of Tourism in Warsaw. Discussions focused on the potential launch of a direct flight connection between Warsaw and Hanoi, as well as the prospect of allowing Polish citizens to enter Vietnam with just a national ID card in the future.

During the visit, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong highlighted the warm attitude of Poles towards the Vietnamese community living and working in Poland, stressing the importance of deepening mutual relations.

The new regulations will undoubtedly simplify travel planning to Southeast Asia and may serve as a significant boost for tourism from Poland to Vietnam.
