LOT Polish Airlines unveils new RECARO seats for Boeing 737 MAX 8

Fleet Modernization in Cooperation with RECARO
LOT Polish Airlines continues the modernization of its fleet, prioritizing passenger comfort and innovation. The first set of modern seats, produced at the RECARO Aircraft Seating factory in Świebodzin, is ready to be installed on board the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The same seats will also be used in future Airbus A220 jets, which LOT ordered during the prestigious Paris Air Show.
Advanced Technologies for Passenger Comfort
The new RECARO R2 seats combine lightweight design (under 10 kg) with advanced ergonomics and functionality. Designed with modern travelers in mind, they offer a range of features:
- 60W power outlet at each seat, enabling fast charging of laptops, tablets, and phones,
- BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) holder for convenient use of personal electronic devices during the flight,
- Six-way adjustable headrests for personalized comfort,
- Contoured backrests and foam padding for enhanced seating comfort,
- Extended armrests and sliding tray tables to improve workspace and overall comfort.

Design Inspired by Business Lounges
The introduction of the new seats is part of LOT’s broader cabin interior modernization program. The interiors of the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will be redesigned with inspiration drawn from LOT's elegant business lounges in Warsaw (Polonez) and Chicago. The goal is to create a cohesive visual style that aligns with the interiors of LOT’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which are also scheduled for a comprehensive cabin retrofit.
Poland as a Center of Innovation
Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, highlights the importance of the partnership with RECARO and its Polish facility in Świebodzin:
– The choice of RECARO seats is based on comfort and quality. We are proud that they are made in Poland – it is tangible support for local jobs and proof that we can deliver world-class solutions rooted in local expertise.
Ecology and Sustainability
The lightweight design of the seats not only enhances comfort but also contributes to lower fuel consumption and reduced CO₂ emissions. Their modular construction facilitates maintenance and aligns with the airline’s sustainability strategy.

The Future of LOT’s Fleet
By the end of the year, thirteen new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will join the LOT fleet, equipped with approximately 14,000 RECARO seats. In the future, the same seats will be installed in Airbus A220 aircraft, ensuring a consistent and high level of passenger comfort across all new aircraft.
