PKP Intercity is enhancing its summer travel offer by introducing a new long-distance train connection from southern Poland to the Masurian Lake District. Starting June 18, the IC Hańcza train will once again operate on the Kraków–Giżycko route. This service provides a convenient travel option for tourists heading to the heart of Poland’s sailing capital.

The updated route includes key stops in cities such as Kielce, Radom, Warsaw, Białystok, and Ełk. To the existing train running between Kraków and Mockava, additional carriages will be attached for passengers travelling to Giżycko. These carriages will be detached in Białystok, allowing travelers to reach Giżycko without needing to change trains. This setup benefits both passengers from the south of Poland and residents of the Podlasie region.

The IC Hańcza train ensures a comfortable travel experience. Passengers can choose between 1st and 2nd class carriages, and the train also includes a dedicated bicycle compartment—an ideal solution for those planning an active holiday. The train features modernized or new carriages equipped with air conditioning, ergonomic seats, power outlets, mobile signal boosters, and automatic doors to improve passenger convenience.

A standard second-class ticket for the Białystok–Giżycko segment is priced at 46 PLN. However, through the limited Promo fare offer, tickets for June 18 can be purchased for as little as 14 PLN.

During the ongoing modernization of the Ełk–Giżycko railway line, a replacement bus service has been introduced. These buses are coordinated with train schedules in Olsztyn, ensuring smooth connections towards both Warsaw and the Tri-City area. Upon completion of the modernization and electrification of the route, PKP Intercity plans to further increase the number of long-distance services in the Warmia-Masuria region.

The introduction of this new connection responds to passenger needs while promoting eco-friendly, comfortable, and direct travel to one of Poland’s most scenic destinations.
