LOT Launches Direct Flights from Warsaw to Rovaniemi

LOT Polish Airlines has announced a new route in its winter 2025/26 schedule, connecting Warsaw with Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. Starting on November 27, the carrier will operate regular flights between the two cities twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. Departures from Warsaw Chopin Airport (flight LO477) are scheduled for 11:35 a.m., while return flights from Rovaniemi (LO478) will take off at 4:50 p.m. The journey will take approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes each way. The service will run until February 1, 2026, with one-way fares starting at approximately 600 PLN.

This new connection forms part of LOT’s broader strategy to expand its network with destinations offering strong tourism potential. The airline will be the only carrier in Central and Eastern Europe to offer direct, scheduled flights to Rovaniemi. The route is expected to attract both nature lovers and families in search of an authentic winter experience in one of Europe’s most magical regions.

Rovaniemi is not only the administrative capital of Lapland but also known worldwide as the official hometown of Santa Claus. The city’s famous Santa Claus Village draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. Travelers can meet Santa in person, send postcards from his official post office, walk through the snow-covered Santa’s Forest, and cross the Arctic Circle—an experience that delights both children and adults.

Lapland also offers ideal conditions for winter sports enthusiasts. Endless snowy landscapes and pristine nature provide a perfect setting for cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and downhill skiing. Resorts such as Levi and Ylläs boast excellent infrastructure and scenic slopes. Visitors also have a high chance of witnessing the northern lights, which frequently illuminate the skies from September onward. A short trip outside city lights is often enough to enjoy this unforgettable spectacle of nature.
