Accor Accelerates Hotel Modernisation Across Europe

Accor is intensifying its modernisation efforts across Europe, focusing on enhancing service quality in its premium, midscale, and economy hotel segments. Launched in 2023, the strategy aims to refresh brand identities and modernise interiors in line with sustainable development and contemporary design trends. More than 70 hotels have already been renovated, with another 60 properties currently undergoing or scheduled for refurbishment. This ambitious programme seeks to unify the guest experience across locations while increasing the appeal and competitiveness of Accor’s portfolio.

Among the standout examples is the fully renovated Novotel Warszawa Centrum, which underwent an extensive upgrade to mark its 50th anniversary. A total of 364 rooms, corridors, and common areas were redesigned in a project led by the Sundukovy Sisters studio, incorporating eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient solutions. In Vienna, Mercure Wien City now boasts interiors inspired by the Wiener Werkstätte style, while Mercure Napoli Centro Angioino has been transformed through a rebranding rooted in Catalan modernism.

From Prague and Barcelona to London, Bologna, and Riga, the renovations extend beyond guestrooms to include lobbies, restaurants, conference spaces, and wellness zones. Each project reflects a commitment to local heritage, comfort, and functionality. These updates not only meet the expectations of today’s travellers but also strengthen the brand’s market position.

“The attractiveness of our offering and the authenticity of our brands are essential in fostering guest loyalty. Modernisation is not just an investment in space, but in the overall experience — one that aims to surprise and inspire,” says Julie White, Chief Commercial Officer Europe & North Africa at Accor.

Operating in over 110 countries and managing a network of more than 5,600 hotels, Accor continues to expand with a strong focus on innovation and social responsibility. The ongoing modernisation programme is a key pillar of the group’s long-term strategy to build a future-ready and sustainable hospitality industry.
