LOT Polish Airlines Expands Connections between Poland and South Korea

In the wake of a revised bilateral agreement between Poland and South Korea, the number of available passenger flights has increased by an additional 2 to Incheon International Airport (ICN) and 3 to Kimhae International Airport (PUS). With these new opportunities, LOT Polish Airlines plans to request the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to augment the number of flights from Warsaw to Seoul by 2 weekly flights in the summer of 2024—a crucial move for the national carrier to strengthen its position in South Korea.

On November 16-17, consultations took place in Warsaw between Polish and South Korean authorities. Following discussions between the Civil Aviation Authority and its Korean counterpart, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT), an agreement was reached to increase the available number of passenger flights: an additional two to Incheon International Airport (ICN) and three to Kimhae International Airport (PUS).

This development is excellent news for LOT Polish Airlines, which has long advocated for a change in the agreement's provisions to increase flight frequency on this route. The airline has already initiated the necessary steps to obtain all required formalities in a timely manner from both the Civil Aviation Authority and its Korean counterpart, MOLIT.

"I would like to sincerely thank all individuals and institutions involved in this process for their support and assistance in finalizing the agreement. Poland is a key partner in Europe for South Korea. The additional flights respond to the market's demand for an improved transportation offering. I am confident that the increased number of flights will be a step enabling further development of LOT Polish Airlines in this market," says Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines.

In the second quarter of 2024, LOT Polish Airlines will apply for an increase in the Warsaw-Seoul connection to 6 frequencies per week, a 50% increase compared to the current season. Simultaneously, LOT Polish Airlines plans to maintain the rotation on the Wroclaw-Seoul route at a weekly level.
