Lufthansa: Green fares throughout Europe
Go for Green fares for travel across Europe
Airlines within the Lufthansa Group have announced that since February 2023, over 450,000 passengers have chosen the Green Fares option for travel across Europe. The majority of Green Fares were reserved for routes such as Zurich–London on SWISS flights and Hamburg–Munich on Lufthansa flights. The increasing interest in green fares indicates a concern for the environment and climate protection, and is also an important step in sustainable development policy.
What do passengers gain with the Green fare?
Green Fares include both Economy Green and Business Green options. The fare price includes the reduction and compensation of individual CO2 emissions associated with air travel. 20% of individual carbon dioxide emissions are reduced through the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). The remaining 80% is compensated through contributions to climate protection projects. Green Fares also allow for greater flexibility in travel planning, such as free date changes and 20% more status points and miles rewards.
Availability of green fares
Green Fares can be booked on routes operated by Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS, Air Dolomiti, Discover Airlines, and Edelweiss within Europe and North Africa.
