POLSCA inaugurates Gdańsk–Karlshamn ferry route

POLSCA Baltic Ferries formally inaugurated its Gdańsk–Karlshamn ferry service on the Swedish side on 12 August 2026. Regular sailings began in Gdańsk on 6 July 2026, and the crossing takes about 13 hours. The route is operated by Skania and Copernicus.

Crossing takes about 13 hours

The direct service links Gdańsk with Karlshamn in southern Sweden. It is available to motorists, families and cyclists. From Karlshamn, travellers can continue by road towards Malmö, Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Oslo. In Gdańsk, ferries use the Westerplatte Ferry Terminal.

Part of the crossing can be completed overnight. Published schedules include evening departures and morning arrivals, although timings vary by day and vessel. The operator notes that schedules may change for technical or weather-related reasons.

Skania and Copernicus operate the route

Skania and Copernicus operate the Gdańsk–Karlshamn service. Karlshamn is on Sweden’s south-eastern coast. The route joins POLSCA Baltic Ferries’ existing Gdańsk–Nynäshamn, Świnoujście–Ystad and Świnoujście–Trelleborg services.

For private travellers, the connection adds another direct ferry option from Poland to Sweden. Motorists can continue from Karlshamn towards other parts of southern Sweden, Denmark or Norway.

Freight traffic is part of the service

The service also carries freight operators and business customers. Poland’s Ministry of Infrastructure said the route was prepared primarily for trucks and unaccompanied trailers, alongside passenger traffic.

For business travellers using a car, the service provides a direct crossing between Gdańsk and southern Sweden. The overnight timetable also allows part of the journey to take place outside daytime travel hours.

Four routes between Poland and Sweden

With Karlshamn added to the network, POLSCA Baltic Ferries now operates four routes between Poland and Sweden. The other services are Gdańsk–Nynäshamn, Świnoujście–Ystad and Świnoujście–Trelleborg.

The ceremony in Karlshamn followed the start of regular sailings in July 2026. It was the formal inauguration of the service on the Swedish side.
