PKP Intercity accepts GZM Metrobilet passes
From 1 August 2026, four types of 30-day Metrobilet passes are accepted on PKP Intercity trains within GZM. The arrangement also covers Express InterCity Premium services, but only in 2nd class. A single PKP Intercity ticket between GZM and an outside station also includes 120 minutes of Transport GZM travel.
Four Metrobilet options accepted on Intercity trains
PKP Intercity accepts Miasto 30, 2 Miasta 30, Obszarowy 30 and Sieć 30 passes. Travel is permitted only on rail sections covered by the passenger’s selected Metrobilet validity area.
No additional free reservation is required for a standard journey. During inspection, passengers must show the QR code in the Transport GZM app. Those using a Metrokarta must present a paper purchase confirmation. Passengers using a discounted fare must also show proof of eligibility unless the discount has already been verified in the app.
Metrobilet passes are valid only in 2nd class. They cannot be used in 1st class or in quiet zones.
120 minutes of local transport included
A single PKP Intercity ticket from outside GZM includes 120 minutes of Transport GZM travel after arrival. The same 120-minute allowance applies before departure from a GZM station when travelling in the opposite direction.
On buses, trams and trolleybuses, passengers need to show their PKP Intercity ticket in paper or electronic form. If the train arrives late, the 120-minute period starts from the actual arrival time. The delay must be confirmed by the PKP Intercity train crew.
PKP Intercity ticket covers local connections
For business travellers, a single PKP Intercity ticket can also cover the local journey to or from the railway station. The PKP Intercity trip must run between a GZM station and a station outside the metropolis. The local journey must also fall within the 120-minute window.
For regular commuting, a qualifying Metrobilet gives access to PKP Intercity trains on rail sections included in its validity area. The change adds PKP Intercity trains to the options available during the reconstruction of the Katowice rail junction.
Bicycles require a reservation
Luggage and animals can be carried without an additional charge under the passenger’s ticket. Bicycles require a reservation, which is free when obtained in advance.
A bicycle reservation issued on board carries a PLN 20 fee. Passengers can avoid the charge by obtaining the reservation at a ticket office before travelling.
