Modlin Airport starts using new Zone B

Warsaw/Modlin Airport brought additional handling positions into use in the new Zone B of the terminal on 5 July 2026. The first flight from the new area had departed for Sofia on 30 June 2026. Zone B is currently open during the operating hours of the carriers using it, with 24-hour access due after retail and food-and-beverage works are completed.

More flights use Zone B

According to the airport’s 5 July update, Zone B is now handling further departures. The airport named flights to Alghero, Alicante, Malta, Milan Bergamo, Stockholm, Bologna and Palermo among the services using the area.

This follows the first flight handled from the new part of the departures terminal on 30 June. Passengers on the Sofia service were the first to use Zone B. Boarding began at 12:15 at gate 5, and the aircraft departed at 12:45.

Zone B has limited hours

The new terminal area is not yet open around the clock. Warsaw/Modlin Airport said on 5 July that Zone B is open during the operating hours of the carriers using it.

The restriction is linked to ongoing work on the retail and food-and-beverage area. The airport plans to complete those works by the end of July 2026. After that, Zone B is due to be available to passengers 24 hours a day.

Four gates and more seating

The new Zone B covers close to 1,700 sq m. The area includes 4 departure gates and more than 220 seats for passengers.

The airport also plans a retail and food-and-beverage area with another 150 seats. According to information released around the project, passengers are due to get almost three times the previous usable space.

Screens remain the gate source

Passengers departing from Modlin should continue to check departure screens and airport announcements after security. During the phased launch, gate allocation may depend on the airport’s operating plan for the day.

For travellers, the main change is the space available after security. The new terminal area should spread waiting passengers across more space and, once fully in use, more gates.

Full use after works end

For managed travel programmes, Modlin remains an airport where gate information should be checked close to departure. The airport is still working on the retail and food-and-beverage area, and Zone B’s availability depends on the operating hours of the carriers using it.

The expansion increases the airport’s handling capacity. In the short term, the operational point is how many of the new gates are available on a given operating day.
