Modlin Airport opens temporary passport point
Warsaw-Modlin Airport opened a temporary passport point on 23 June 2026. It is the seventh airport in Poland with this service, after Warsaw Chopin, Kraków-Balice, Gdańsk, Katowice-Pyrzowice, Poznań-Ławica and Wrocław. The point operates on business days from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the mezzanine in the departures hall.
Seventh airport with the service
The new point is intended for passengers who do not have the travel document required for an international flight. This includes cases where a document was lost, left at home, expired, or does not meet the minimum validity rules of the destination country.
Passengers must hold a valid air ticket for international travel. Each application is assessed individually, so arriving at the point does not automatically mean a document will be issued.
Two business days before departure
Passengers can apply for a temporary passport at the airport no earlier than two business days before the planned departure. The application requires an identity document, if the traveller has one, and an air ticket for an international trip.
The photo can be taken by an official at the point. The document is issued for a period adjusted to the circumstances, but for no longer than 365 days. The official decides how long the passport will be valid.
The fee is PLN 30
A temporary passport costs PLN 30. The Polish Ministry of Interior states that at Warsaw-Modlin Airport the fee should be paid by bank transfer to the Mazovian Voivodeship Office account, with payment confirmation sent by email.
This detail should be checked before departure, as the airport’s official notice also refers to card payment. Travellers should prepare to follow the payment instructions published by the ministry.
A temporary passport may not be enough
A temporary passport does not guarantee entry to every country. The ministry says some states may not accept this document for border crossing.
Passengers should check the rules of their destination country before travel. This is especially relevant for non-Schengen destinations and countries that require a specific minimum validity period for travel documents.
The point does not remove entry risk
For business trips, the new service may reduce the risk of a disrupted journey at the airport, but it does not replace pre-trip document checks. The application is assessed individually, and the destination country may still reject a temporary passport.
For companies, this means document validity checks remain part of travel planning. The airport point is an emergency option, not a standard process for business travel.
