PKP Intercity returns to Łomża after more than 30 years

PKP Intercity will launch IC Omulew and IC Orzyc services via Łomża and Śniadowo on 14 June 2026. The change brings passenger rail back to Łomża after more than 30 years. It also gives Śniadowo its first long-distance PKP Intercity stop.

IC Omulew and IC Orzyc reach Łomża

The new services will run on the Białystok–Olsztyn–Białystok route. According to PKP Intercity material, the operator plans two pairs of trains calling at Łomża.

Both trains will also stop at Śniadowo. For the town, this will be the first long-distance service in the PKP Intercity timetable.

The route is due to be operated with SD85 units. The trains will have first- and second-class seating, folding tables and space for larger groups and bicycles. According to the operator’s material, fares from Białystok to Łomża or Śniadowo start from PLN 9. Fares from Olsztyn start from PLN 14.

Four routes extended to Białystok

PKP Intercity will extend four train routes from 14 June 2026. IC Ukiel from Poznań to Olsztyn, as well as IC Niegocin and IC Mamry from Wrocław to Olsztyn, are due to continue to Białystok. The trains will call at Giżycko on the way.

IC Słowacki, which now runs Wrocław–Giżycko–Wrocław via Białystok, will also be extended to Olsztyn. For passengers in Podlasie, the change adds more direct options towards Warmia, Masuria and western Poland.

According to the operator’s material, the fastest journey between Białystok and Olsztyn will take 2 hours 54 minutes. That is 16 minutes faster than now. The Biebrza service is due to use modernised coaches and move from TLK to IC category.

Lubuszanin gets a Białystok extension

From 27 June 2026, PKP Intercity plans to extend IC Lubuszanin to Białystok. The train, now operating on the Zielona Góra–Warsaw–Zielona Góra route, is due to serve the Podlasie capital on Fridays and Sundays.

According to PKP Intercity material, the train will run non-stop between Warsaw and Białystok. The extension will give Białystok passengers direct links to Poznań, Zielona Góra and Gorzów Wielkopolski.

More direct options from Podlasie

For business travel, the main change is the number of direct options from Białystok to large cities beyond Warsaw. Extended routes to Poznań, Wrocław, Zielona Góra and Gorzów Wielkopolski may reduce transfers on some corporate trips.

Operating days still matter. IC Lubuszanin is due to serve Białystok only on Fridays and Sundays, so it will not replace the daily Warsaw–Białystok offer.
