PKP Intercity plans EIC trains to Szczecin and Wrocław

PKP Intercity plans to add more commercial EIC trains from Warsaw to Szczecin and Wrocław from December 2026. On the Szczecin route, the offer is expected to grow by two daily pairs, giving the city five fast direct services to the capital.
Five pairs for Szczecin
The main change concerns the Warsaw – Poznań – Szczecin route. PKP Intercity currently operates three daily pairs of fast commercial services there, including two locomotive-hauled express trains and one Pendolino pair.
After the December timetable change, that number is expected to rise to five pairs a day. For passengers, this would mean more departure options between Szczecin, Poznań and Warsaw. The detailed timetable has not yet been published.
Wrocław via Częstochowa
The second route named by the operator is Warsaw – Wrocław. According to PKP Intercity chief executive Janusz Malinowski, the additional EIC trains are expected to use the fastest route via Częstochowa.
Wrocław already has several commercial services to Warsaw, including locomotive-hauled express trains and Pendolino. The new services would strengthen the fast-train offer between the capital and Lower Silesia.
No departure times yet
PKP Intercity has not yet published departure times, train numbers or the full list of stops. The announcement should therefore be treated as a plan for the new annual timetable, not as a final schedule.
For passengers, the practical value will depend on how the new trains are spread across the day. The final timetable will also show whether the services work for same-day trips.
Corporate travel needs the timetable
For business travel, the number of additional pairs is not enough to judge the change. Companies will need departure times, journey times, seat availability and ticketing rules.
Travel managers will be able to assess the change only after the timetable is published. Until then, there is no basis for changing preferred rail options between Warsaw and Wrocław or Szczecin.
RegioJet left room on the market
Wrocław and Szczecin were also part of RegioJet’s Polish plans. The Czech operator notified the Polish rail regulator that it wanted to launch commercial services from Warsaw to both cities from 13 December 2026.
Those plans will not go ahead in the original form. RegioJet ended its domestic services in Poland on 3 May 2026, keeping only its international routes. In practice, PKP Intercity may now fill part of the space left by the Czech operator’s unused expansion.
