529 extra carriages for the long weekend

PKP Intercity said it strengthened its most popular domestic and international trains between 30 April and 4 May 2026. Extra carriages were added to services with the highest demand during the May holiday period.

Passenger volumes were already high on 30 April 2026. On that day, PKP Intercity carried 312,000 passengers. The peak came three days later, on 3 May 2026.

Jantar returned with extra capacity

On 1 May 2026, the weekend EIC Jantar service between Warsaw and Hel ran for the first time this year. PKP Intercity added three extra carriages on the Warsaw–Gdynia section.

On 30 April and on 1, 3 and 4 May 2026, the IC Łużyce service between Warsaw and Wrocław operated with two coupled PesaDart units. The train could carry about 700 passengers at one time.

Extra train from Zakopane

On 3 May 2026, PKP Intercity launched an additional Kaszub BIS train from Zakopane to Warszawa Wschodnia. The train had 7 carriages. The operator linked the decision to heavy return traffic from the Tatra region.

At the largest railway stations, passengers could use mobile information staff. They helped travellers plan transfers and find the correct platform.
